What we do for contractors.

A look at the kind of work we do for construction businesses, from closing a cash-flow gap to landing better financing.

Specialty subcontractor · commercial

Profitable on every job, still short on cash.

The situation

Booked solid and profitable, but the bank account never showed it. Pay applications billed monthly and collected on Net 60, and every collection was held up until their vendors' lien releases were in hand. Payroll and materials went out for weeks before a dollar came back.

What we did

  • Built a rolling 13-week cash flow around their real pay apps, retainage, and net terms, so the gap was visible weeks ahead.
  • Stood up a pay-app and lien-release tracker so no collection sat waiting on a missing release.
  • Tightened the billing and release process so approved work turned into cash faster.

The result

For the first time they could see exactly which pay app they were waiting on, and stopped getting blindsided by shortfalls. Freed-up working capital went into the next job instead of a scramble.

General contractor · ground-up

Growth was making cash tighter, not easier.

The situation

Winning bigger jobs, but every new project front-loaded costs before the last one paid out. The more work they took on, the tighter cash got, and no one could say which jobs were actually carrying the company.

What we did

  • Built real job-level costing and a WIP schedule, so they could see margin by project instead of one number at year end.
  • Forecast the working-capital need across the whole pipeline.
  • Helped size and secure a line of credit matched to the real gap.

The result

A clear read on which jobs made money and which to stop chasing, and financing sized to the actual need, so they could grow without running dry.

Trade contractor · residential & light commercial

Good work, but financing came slow and expensive.

The situation

Plenty of work and a strong reputation, but the books were not in a shape a lender could underwrite. Financing came slowly and at a high rate, when it came at all.

What we did

  • Cleaned up the financials and built lender-ready reporting and WIP schedules.
  • Institutionalized the monthly close so the numbers were consistent and current.
  • Packaged and supported an SBA loan application end to end.

The result

Institutional-grade financials a bank could stand behind, and financing at materially better terms, freeing up cash to take on more work.
